Each time you swipe your credit card an exchange of your information is triggered making it vulnerable to fraud. With Apple Pay, your credit card information is not shared with the merchant. Instead, when you add your card, a unique Device Account Number is assigned and encrypted on your mobile device. That number, along with a transaction-specific security code, is used to process your purchase. Your card information is never transmitted. And unlike swiping your credit card, a fingerprint or passcode is required to verify the purchase is being made by the actual cardholder.
