Wait...Summer Isn't Over Just Yet

The days are feeling a little shorter…

The kids are heading back to school…

Labor Day has come and gone…

Summer is officially winding down. And if you’re like many of us at the bank you’re not quite ready for it to end. How can you squeeze every last drop out of these remaining days? Here are a few suggestions:

Mazomanie

If you’re looking to get outside to break a sweat or simply to enjoy the beautiful September weather, the Wolf Run Trail in Mazomanie is a great option. The trail starts on the east end of town, snaking along the Black Earth Creek corridor and ending behind the Wisconsin Heights High School. When you’re finished, bring the kids down to the new Splash Pad, located at the Mazomanie Lions Park, to cool down.

Arena

On a hot day stop by Trader’s tiki bar and campground where you can rent a kayak, a canoe, or a tube and make your way down the Wisconsin River. Or you can stay right there and enjoy a refreshing drink from the tiki bar with a view that is tough to beat.

If you’re looking for a snack after a day on the water stop into Arena Cheese and try some of their award-winning, local cheese!

Barneveld

As the days continue getting shorter the mornings are starting to feel a little more brisk. A good cup of coffee from the newest coffee house in Barneveld, Marue Coffee, is just the ticket to warm you up and jumpstart your day!

Plain

The impending end of summer isn’t all doom and gloom. The approaching fall season marks the re-emergence of the classic Wisconsin Friday night fish fry. St. Luke’s parish in Plain hosts their popular fish fry on the first Friday of the month starting in September and going through May. If you have time before dinner make your way up the hill to St. Anne’s Chapel. You’ll be sure to work up an appetite!

Richland Center

If you’re itching to get outside and enjoy the weather, Richland Center has something for everyone. Choose between kayaking down the Pine River, biking on one of their scenic bike paths, golf at Quail Run or spend an evening at the drive-in movie theater. There is something here for everyone!

Spring Green

If you’re looking for an entertaining evening, look no further than Spring Green. They have live music for every palette. Stop by the ever-popular Sh*tty Barn for a wonderfully unique music experience (although tickets can be hard to come by), or head down the street to Local Night at The Shed on Thursday evenings for a more casual listening experience.

If theater is more your speed take in a show at the renowned American Players Theatre, where they have nine shows on rotation throughout the summer. But hurry, the last show at the Hill Theatre is on October 8th.

Now go enjoy these last few weeks of summer!
